On Wednesday, May 13, 2009 the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) will be holding their annual junior class combine. The event will be held at Gillette Stadium (for the first time) and will run from 4:30-8:30pm. The public is invited and admission is free. This would be a great chance for those who haven't been inside Gillette to go visit and at the same time help out a worthy cause. Only participants will be allowed on the field.
According to Richard Davis the event typically draws 25% of the eligible juniors that would be of interest to college recruiters or approximately 300+ student-athletes. In attendance are usually approximately 15-20 college coaches.
Massachusetts High School Football Prospect Information (MHSFPI) produces a football recruiting manual that is sold to colleges. There are over 1,200 high school junior prospects in the manual. The proceeds are donated (minus the printing and shipping costs) to the Shriners Hospital for Burned and Crippled children. To date that number is a phenomenal $114,000.
The results of the combine are sent free of charge to all colleges that purchased the manual and each individual that participated get a copy of their own results.
Registration forms are available on the MHSFPI website. Walk-ons are accepted.
