EMASS Softball Players of the Day for April 17th



Players of the Day for Friday, April 17, 2009.


Nicole Wilson (pictured above) hurled a gem in the circle (CG, 12 K's) to lead Peabody past Lynn English (7-4) in a NEC tilt.


Ashland's Nicole D'Argento (5 IP, no-hitter, shutout, 10 K's, (3-4), HR, 3 runs, 4 RBI's) was her usual incredible self as the Clockers crunched Holliston (12-0) in Tri-Valley League action.


Sarah Pezzulo and Kristen Lojko combined on a 10 strikeout no-hitter as Beverly whitewashes Danvers (5-0) in a Northeastern Conference game.


North Quincy's Catherine O'Connell and Emma Ainsley (both went 4-4, 2 RBI's) powered the Red Raiders past Scituate (8-3) in a Patriot League slugfest.


Nicolle Brenza (3 hits, HR, 3 runs scored, 7 RBI's) helped Bridgewater-Raynham bash Marshfield (15-0) in a non-league affair.


Triton's Marion Dullea (CG, shutout, 3-hitter) got the best of the battle in the circle as the Vikings nipped Ipswich (1-0) in a Cape Ann League thriller.


Jessica Mortelite (CG, one-hitter) lead Medford to a (4-0) Greater Boston League victory over Somerville.


Shawsheen's Sara Elwell pitched a complete game, five hit, 15 strikeout gem as the Rams blitzed Northeast (12-1) in a Commonwealth League mismatch.


Lauren DiCredico (CG, one hit, 6 K's) leads Tewksbury to a (7-0) shutout of Chelmsford in an MVC showdown.


King Philip's Maggie Quealy (CG, 3-hit shutout, 5 K's) pitched a masterpiece as the Warriors defeat Hockomock League rival Mansfield (3-0).

Catholic Memorial's Phil Rossi went six innings allowing only two hits while striking out seven as the Knights shut out Franklin (5-0) in non-league action.


Nick Filloramo (CG, 2-hitter, 11 K's) hurled a masterpiece as Old Rochester stomps on Wareham (14-0) in a South Coast Conference blowout.


Lynn English's Mike Gonzalez needed only 69 pitches to lead the Bulldogs to a (7-3) upset of Peabody in NEC action.


Ian Fitzgerald pitched a complete game 2-hit shutout to lead Medford past Somerville (8-0) in a Greater Boston League tilt.


Oliver Ames' Mike Cole (CG, shutout, 5-hitter, 8 K's) muzzled Stoughton (10-0) as the Tigers triumph in a Hockomock League tussle.


Mike Etheridge (9 K's, GW hit) propelled Latin Academy over Boston English (7-6) in Boston City League action.


Brookline's Kyle Kaczanian-Amory (CG shutout, 8-hitter, 4 K's) twirled a gem as the Warriors slipped by Braintree (1-0) in a Bay State League nailbiter.

Sara Erlandson (pictured above) was immense (6IP, 15 K's, 3-4, 4 RBI's) at the dish and in the circle as Georgetown shuts down Manchester Essex (15-0) in Cape Ann League action.


Central Catholic's Meg Donegan (4-hitter, shutout, 4-4, 3 runs) gave Lowell all it could handle as the Raiders thumped the Red Raiders (11-0) in a MVC tilt.


Gayle Miller tossed a no-hitter as Concord-Carlise pounded (17-0) Arlington in Dual County League mismatch.


Brockton's Stephanie Ameen twirled a 10 strikeout shut out as the Boxers tamed the Indians (3-0) in a non-league battle.


Beverly's Kristen Lojko pitched a 4-hit, 14-strikeout gem as the Panthers pounded Medford (14-4) in a non-league game.


Noelle Christmas (CG, 2-hitter, 11 K's) dominated the circle as Plymouth South crushed Marshfield (9-0) in a Atlantic Coast League blowout.


Malden's Kiara Amos was overpowering in the circle (2-hitter, 12 K's) as the Golden Tornadoes defeated Everett (6-1) in a Greater Boston League matchup.


Amber White (CG, shutout, 11 K's) spun a masterpiece in the circle in leading Middleboro to a (10-0) Patriot League shellacking of Duxbury.


Coyle-Cassidy's Patty Borges (4-4, Game winning HR in the 10th) powered the Warriors past EAC rival Bishop Feehan (6-5).


Kelly Naegelin (CG, 15 K's) lead Cohasset past Harwich (4-3) in a South Shore League nail biter.

Andover's Shawn Carlson (5IP, 13K's) was overpowering as the Golden Warriors pounded Central Catholic (11-4) in a MVC tilt.


Eddie Campbell twirled a 3-hit, 11 strikeout gem as Bridgewater-Raynham defeated Barnstable (6-1) in an Old Colony League grudge match.


Norton's Sean Ryan (4-4, 2 HR's, 8 RBI's) prvided the offensive support as the Lancers pounded Millis (16-2) in a Tri-Valley League game.


Dan Johanson (the "W", 5-6) was the star on the hill and at the dish as Pentucket slipped by Lynnfield (9-7) in Cape Ann League action.


Duxbury's Phil Sciratte (12 K's, 2-4, 3 RBI's) was Mr. Everything as the Dragons snuck by Middleboro (6-5) in a Patriot League tilt.


Patrick Dumas (5 2/3IP, 5-hitter, 7 K's) held the high octane offense of Malden Catholic in check as Peabody nipped the Lancers (4-3).

EMASS Softball Players of the Day for April 15th



Players of the Day for Wednesday, April 15, 2009.


Jamie Block (pictured above) hurled a no-hitter with 8 strikeouts in the circle as Pembroke defeated Scituate (1-0) in a Patriot League pitcher's duel.


Wellesley's Rebecca DiBiase threw a no-no as the Raiders demolished Needham (15-0) in Bay State League action. In a side note, I believe that Needham has lost 4 games this year all by the same score (15-0). What are the odds of that?


Jessica Nye twirled a 14 strikeout no-hitter as Old Rochester nipped Greater New Bedford Voc. (2-1) in South Coast Conference action.


Braintree's Liz DiMascio (CG, 13K, one-hitter) was all business as the Wamps overpowered Milton (5-1) in a Bay State League tilt.


Georgia Guttaduaro (3-3, 3 runs, 4 RBI) powered Concord-Carlisle past Westford Academy (19-4) in a Dual County League affair.


Blue Hill's Analyssa Manning (1-hiiter, 13 K's) dominated the circle as the Warriors defeated Norfolk Aggie (5-1) in a Mayflower League tilt.


Liz Habib had 12 strikeouts while hurling a seven hitter as Central Catholic edged Billerica (3-2) in a MVC battle.


Lynn English's Cara Crowley (4-6, 2B, 4 runs, RBI) was part of the offensive onslaught as the Bulldogs slammed Revere (15-7).


Kiki Saveriano (5IP, CG, 12 K's, 2-4, 3 RBI's) provided much of the punch as Lexington throttled Winchester (19-0) in a Middlesex League mismatch.

Durfee's Corey Laliberte hurled a 9K one-hitter as the Hilltoppers destroyed Attleboro (9-0).


Hingham's Sam Koonce (CG, 2-hitter, 10 K's) overpowered Middleboro as the Harbormen destroyed the Sachems (11-1).


Ben Bullock (got the win, 3-3, HR, 3 RBI's) propelled Apponequet past Wareham (8-3) in a South Coast Conference battle.


Lowell's Chris Gallery pitched a 5-hit, 10 strikeout complete game as the Red Raiders slipped by Tewksbury (3-2).


Hunter Gordon continued his brilliant season with a complete game, 10K 2 -hiiter as Swampscott whitewashed Winthrop (10-0).


Quincy's Kevin Keith took a no-hitter in to the 6th inning (11 K's) as the Presidents doubled up North Quincy (4-2) in Patriot League action.

EMASS Softball Players of the Day for April 14th



Players of the Day for Tuesday, April 14, 2009.


Rebecca DiBiase (pictured above) improved her record to (4-0) as she twirled a 10 strikeout shutout in leading Wellesley over Milton (2-0) in Bay State League action.


Shawsheen's Kelli Jo Dierdorf (CG, 3-hitter, 15 K's, 2-5, run, 2 RBI's) provided all the firepower as the Rams belted Greater Lawrence in a Commonwealth League tilt.


8th Grader Sydney McGrath pitched a 12K shutout in her varsity debut to lead Latin Academy to a (15-0) drubbing of New Mission.


Devin Azulay (14 K's, 2-3) commanded the circle and the dish in leading Attleboro to a (3-2) OCL win over Barnstable.


Marblehead's Sarah Hastings (CG, 4 K's) was immense in the circle as the Magicians bested Saugus (5-2) in a NEC showdown.


Michelle Cooprider (CG, 3-hiiter, 4-4, 3 doubles, 3 runs, RBI) is making it look to easy as she propels Hopkinton to a (11-2) drubbing of Tri-Valley League foe Holliston.


Taunton's Colleen Kirby pitched an eight strikeot complete game as the Tigers outlasted Durfee (4-1).


Rae Copan continues her mastery of the circle (2-hitter, 11 K's) in leading Newton North to a (15-0) shtout of Framingham.


Sandwich's Nancy Henry (CG, shutout) established the pecking order in the ACL as the Blue Knights walloped Denns-Yarmouth (9-0).


Felicia Patel (CG, 6 K's) lead the way as Lincoln-Sudbury took care of Newton South (9-3) in a Dual County League contest.


Norwood's Lauren Duggan had a one hit, 13 strikeout, complete game in leading the Mustangs to a (6-0) Bay State League win over Natick.

Trinity Catholic's Mike Marchionda hurled a 3 hitter to go along with 15 K's to lead the Falcons to a (5-1) victory over Pope John.


Dave Forestall (3-hitter and the win, 3 hits, 3-run HR) lead Everett to a non-league dismantling of Swampscott (9-3).


Jameson Wood
(5-5, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI's) lead Plymouth North to its 30th consecutive victory over Nauset (16-3).


Brockton's Matt Sliney (pictured above) had 10 strikeouts to lead the Boxers over Pembroke (4-3).


Chris Parise twirled a 2-hit 10 strikeout gem as Cambridge defeated Boston English in non-league action.


North Reading's Eric Diffily went 8 innings while allowing only 3 hits in leading the Scarlet Hornets to a (2-1) nailbiter over Lynnfield in Cape Ann League action.


Brendan O'Brien (4-4, HR, 5 RBI's) lead tha attack as East Bridgewater pounded Plymouth South in a non-league affair.


North Andover's Mike Weisman (5IP, 9 K's, 2-3, run scored, 2 RBI's) was "the man" as the Scarlet Knights beat up on Masconomet (8-3).


Ryan Mahan (CG, 10 K's, 3-hitter) pitched North Shore to a (4-2) win over CommonwealthLeague opponent Minuteman.


Hamilton-Wenham's Jim Love (3-3, 1B, 2B, HR) was all the offensive the Generals needed in their (11-7) slugfest against Ipswich.

EMASS Softball Player of the Day for April 13th



Players of the Day for Monday, April 13, 2009.


Kiki Saveriano (CG, 2-hitter, 16 K's, 2-3, 1B, 3B, RBI) lead Lexington to a (2-0) shutout over Wakefield in Middlesex League action.


Ashland's Nicole D'Argento hurled a 2-hitter in the circle with 15 K's as the Clockers destroyed Medfield (8-0).


Jessica Ngo (2-4, 2 HR's, 4 RBI's) lead Salem to a (18-4) non-league drubbing of Somerville.


Coyle-Cassidy's Kathryn Bolduc (pictured above) spun a 4-hit shutout to go along with 6 K's in leading the Warriors to a (2-0) win over Dighton-Rehoboth.


Lauren Duggan (HR, 8 RBI's) supplied the offensive punch as Norwood crushed Milton (17-4) in Bay State League action.


King Philip frosh Meghan Carnase (1 hitter, shutout, 9 K's, 4-4, 4 RBI's) had a high school highlight reel in one game as the Warriors shellacked Foxboro (10-0).


Linley Frankel (4-4, 2 triples, 2 doubles) was the sparkplug in powering Westford Academy past Tyngsboro (15-1).


Mansfield's Rebecca Levine (1-hitter, 10 K's, 3-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI's) keyed the Hornets to a (5-1) win over Stoughton.


Danielle Mitchell (4-5, 3 doubles, HR, 6 RBI's) accounted for 60% of Whitman-Hanson offense as the Panthers destroyed Duxbury (10-2).


Leah McWilliams (4-6, HR) powered Billerica to a (11-1) win over North Andover in a non-league tilt.


Ipswich's Liz Glavine (3 hits, 2 HR's, 3 runs, 3 RBI's) was part of an offensive onslaught as the Tigers pounded Lynnfield (14-1).

Bryan Saffelle pitched a nine strikeout complete game to lead the Mansfield past Stoughton (4-2).


Westford Academy's TJ Jann (win, 10 K's, HR) was Mr. Everything in leading the Grey Ghosts past Tyngsboro (9-4).
