West Bridgewater's Adria Kotsiopoulos fired a 16 K, 2-hitter as the #3 Wildcats eliminated #14 Norfolk Aggie (9-1) in a D3 South blowout.


Courtney Finn (4 hits, 2 RBI's) supplied the pop as #20 Winthrop crushed #13 Latin Academy (14-1) in a D3 North mismatch.


East Bridgewater's Nicole Eisenmann (W, single, double, HR) was Miss Everything as the #9 Vikings slipped by #8 Hanover (6-4) in a D2 South battle.

EMASS Softball Players of the Day for May 28th

Nell O'Connor hurled a no-hitter in the circle while striking out 17 of 18 batters to lead #6 Harwich to a (14-0) dismantling of #11 Maimonides in D3 South action.


Acton-Boxboro's Sarah Ropiak twirled a 5 K, one-hitter to pace the #4 Colonials to a (5-1) decision over #13 Salem in a D1 North battle.


Kori Sorensen allowed only 4 hits over 8 innings while striking out 13 in #25 Quincy's (2-0) shutout of #8 Silver Lake in D1 South.


Brockton's Stephanie Ameen (SO, 17 K's, 2-hitter) propelled the #24 Boxers to a (7-0) shutout of #9 Sandwich in a D1 South contest.


Freshman Kayla Maloney (1 run, 4 hits, 5 K's) was the catalyst behind #5 Central Catholic's (7-1) defeat of #12 Bedford in D2 North action.


Old Rochester's Jessica Nye spun a 2-hit 9 strikeout gem as the #17 Bulldogs disposed of #16 Canton (11-1) in a D2 South mismatch.


Jess Moitoza (3-run HR, 4 runs, 5 RBI's) was all the "O" that #6 Taunton needed in their (19-3) pounding of #27 Attleboro in D1 South.


St. Mary's Sam Kiley threw a 2hit shutout to lead the #15 Spartans to a (15-0) whitewashing of #18 Lowell Catholic in D3 North action.


Rebecca DiBiase tossed a 3-hit, 12 strikeout shutout as #11 Wellesley ended #22 North Quincy's title hopes in a D1 South pitcher's duel.


Milton's Brenna Callahan tossed a crafty 7-hitter as the #20 Wildcats upset #13 Mansfield (7-0) in D1 South action.

Joe Flynn tossed a 10 K, one-hit shutout to propel #20 Plymouth North to a (7-0) win over #13 Scituate in D2 South.


Oliver Ames' Ryan Grant (one-hit, 5 K's) continued his late season mastery as the #23 Tigers defeat #10 Bellingham in a D2 South contest.


Curtis Hamilton tossed a nifty one-hit shutout to pace #11 Greater Lowell to a (1-0) nail biter over #22 Saugus in a D3 North pitcher's duel.


Milton's Willie Archibald extended his scoreless inning streak to 29 as the #19 Wildcats shut out #14 Medfield (6-0) in D2 South.


Nick Boutoures (2-2, 5 RBI's) accounted for 5 of the 6 runs in #18 Wilminton's (6-1) victory over #15 Wakefield in a D2 North battle of future Middlesex League members.


Georgetown's Andrew Sinkewicz (2-3, 2 RBI's, 10 K's) was Mr. Everything as the #10 Royals defeated #23 Tyngsboro (9-3) in a D3 North mismatch.


Alex Phelan (3-5, double, 3 runs) was part of #15 Xaverian's offensive explosion as they crushed #18 Silver Lake (19-3) in a D1 South rout.

Andrew Sinkewicz (3-1-1-2) powered Georgetown to a (7-6) victory over Newburyport in a Cape Ann League nail biter.


Central Catholic's Tim Wheeler (3-4, 2 runs, 2 HR's, 2 RBI's) propelled the Raiders to a (12-11) win over Haverhill in a Merrimack Valley Conference slugfest.


Chris Fox fired a 3-hit, 3 K masterpiece as Braintree upset Hingham (3-1) in a Bay State vs Patriot League pitcher's duel.

Taunton's Colleen Kirby shut down the high-powered Coyle-Cassidy offense as the Tigers captured the 14th annual City Championship (6-0).

EMASS Softball Players of the Day for May 23rd


Players of the Day for Saturday, May 23, 2009.


Rachel McGrath (pictured above) struck out eleven and while teammate Lauren Lyons supplied the offense (3 hits, 3 runs, 6 RBI's) as Latin Academy pummeled O'Bryant (16-0) in the first round of the Boston City League Championship.


Matignon's Rebecca Donovan (3-4, 3 RBI's) was the offensive catalyst in the Warriors (14-2) Catholic Central Conference decision over Trinity Catholic.


Lauren McElroy drove in four runs to lead Archbishop Williams to a (6-1) victory over Randolph in a Catholic Central vs Patriot League battle.


Arlington Catholic's twins Natalie (3-hit shutout) and Shelby (3 hits, 2 RBI's) Casey were double the trouble as Cougars dispatched Arlington (10-0) in a battle for city bragging rights.


Jessica Guevara spun a 13 strikeout 3-hitter as Nantucket spoiled Cohasset's island party with a (3-2) win.


Reading's Maria Pandolfo (single, triple, HR, 4 RBI's) was all the offense needed as the Rockets were victorious over East Bridgewater (6-1) in a Middlesex vs South Shore League battle.


Emily Williston provided 2 hits and scored the game winning run as Martha's Vineyard upset Bishop Feehan (3-2).


Cardinal Spellman's Barbara Silva twirled a 6-hit, 5 strikeout shutout as the Cardinals disposed of Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0).


Sarra Bergeron (4-hitter, 11 K's) continued her phenominal season as Methuen crunches North Andover (8-1) to win the Methuen Invitational.


Case's Julie Plante surrendered one hit while striking out nine in the Cardinals (3-0) victory over Somerset in a South Coast vs Eastern Athletic Conference pitcher's duel.

Dracut's Kyle Adie (3 hits, HR, 5 RBI's) powered the Middies to a (11-3) Merrimack Valley Conference decision over Chelmsford.


Jeremy Miller (3 hits, 5 SB's, 5 RBI's) was the catalyst in Brookline's (8-4) victory over Triton in a Bay State vs. Cape Ann League tussle.


Lawrence's Mike Calzetta pitched a 15 strikeout 4-hitter to lead the Lancers to a (6-0) whitewashing of Merrimack Valley Conference foe Tewksbury.


John McGonigle pounded out four hits to pace Xaverian to a (11-4) win over Bishop Hendricken (RI) in a battle over state bragging rights.


Winchester's Bob Corcoran (5-5, 9 RBI's) had a monster offensive day in the Sachems (21-8) drubbing of Lynnfield in a Middlesex League vs CAL mismatch.

Andover's John Farrell struck out 17 batters as the Golden Warriors shutout North Andover (1-0) in a non-league pitcher's duel.
