EMASS Softball Players of the Day for May 23rd


Players of the Day for Saturday, May 23, 2009.


Rachel McGrath (pictured above) struck out eleven and while teammate Lauren Lyons supplied the offense (3 hits, 3 runs, 6 RBI's) as Latin Academy pummeled O'Bryant (16-0) in the first round of the Boston City League Championship.


Matignon's Rebecca Donovan (3-4, 3 RBI's) was the offensive catalyst in the Warriors (14-2) Catholic Central Conference decision over Trinity Catholic.


Lauren McElroy drove in four runs to lead Archbishop Williams to a (6-1) victory over Randolph in a Catholic Central vs Patriot League battle.


Arlington Catholic's twins Natalie (3-hit shutout) and Shelby (3 hits, 2 RBI's) Casey were double the trouble as Cougars dispatched Arlington (10-0) in a battle for city bragging rights.


Jessica Guevara spun a 13 strikeout 3-hitter as Nantucket spoiled Cohasset's island party with a (3-2) win.


Reading's Maria Pandolfo (single, triple, HR, 4 RBI's) was all the offense needed as the Rockets were victorious over East Bridgewater (6-1) in a Middlesex vs South Shore League battle.


Emily Williston provided 2 hits and scored the game winning run as Martha's Vineyard upset Bishop Feehan (3-2).


Cardinal Spellman's Barbara Silva twirled a 6-hit, 5 strikeout shutout as the Cardinals disposed of Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0).


Sarra Bergeron (4-hitter, 11 K's) continued her phenominal season as Methuen crunches North Andover (8-1) to win the Methuen Invitational.


Case's Julie Plante surrendered one hit while striking out nine in the Cardinals (3-0) victory over Somerset in a South Coast vs Eastern Athletic Conference pitcher's duel.
