EMASS Softball Players of the Day for May 16th
Players of the Day for Saturday, May 16, 2009.
Nicole D'Argento (pictured above) hurled a 15 strikeout shutout while Sarah Jeffrey (3-3, 2 runs) provided the offense in Ashland's (5-0) whitewashing of Coyle-Cassidy in a non-league affair.
Durfee's Guilia Khoury (8 IP, 1-run, 4 K's) was immense in the circle as the Hilltoppers bested Brockton (3-1) in a Big 3 battle.
Alex Gustafson (5-5, 2 runs) supplied the offense as Austin Prep dispatched Matignon (13-7) in a Cathlolic Central tussle.
Bishop Feehan's Kayla Holland (8 IP, shutout, 3 K's) propelled the Shamrocks to a (1-0) whitewashing of Bishop Stang in a Eastern Athletic Conference pitcher's duel.
Carla Burrelle (3-4, triple, 2 runs, RBI) was the offensive catalyst in Central Catholic's (5-2) Merrimack Valley Conference win over Methuen.
Attleboro's Vanessa Alverez (3 hits, 2 triples) was an offensive machine in pacing the Blue Bombardiers to a (7-5) victory over Dartmouth in an Old Colony League nail biter.
Sioban Elvin and Sammy McGilvrey both had 3 hits in Boston Latin's (16-1) non-league decision over Mt. St. Joseph.
Dighton-Rehoboth's Jen Lundstrom (5 hits, 5 K's) again was fantastic in the circle as the Falcons defeated Taunton (4-1) in a non-league battle.
Kelly Reid (Game 1, 4-hitter) and Jess Guevara (Game 2, 3-hitter) kept Pemboke off balance all day as Nantucket shutout Pembroke (5-0, 7-0) to sweep both ends of the doubleheader.
Nancy Henry (7 K's, hit, 2 RBI's) helped in the circle and at the dish as Sandwich dispatched of Wareham (7-5) in a non-league game.
