EMASS Baseball Players of the Day for May 14th

Players of the Day for Thursday, May 14, 2009.


Dan Gelinas (pictured above) went 4-5 with 4 RBI's in Attleboro's (14-1) drubbing of Old Colony League rival Taunton.


Dennis-Yarmouth's Mike Sweeney (4-4, 3 doubles, 2 runs, 3 RBI's) powered the Dolphins to an (11-1) Atlantic Coast win over Marshfield.


Chris Funnell (CG, 9 IP, 9K's) tossed a gem as Natick doubled up Bay State League opponent Braintree (6-3).


North Reading's Kevin Singer hurled a complete game, 2 hit shutout to pace the Fighting Hornets to a (2-0) whitewashing of Cape Ann League foe Hamilton-Wenham.


Will Allen (2 HR's, 7 RBI's) was the offensive catalyst in Newton South's (17-10) win over Boston Latin in a Dual County League slugfest.


Everett's Al Saia went six innings racking up seven strikeouts to lead the Crimson Tide to a (3-0) shutout of Malden in the Greater Boston League.


Zack Smith and Matt Burgess each hit two homeruns in Silver Lake's (7-5) victory over Scituate in a Patriot League tilt.


Cohasset's Jeff Cavanaro (2 IP, W, 4-5, 4 RBI's) provided the bulk of the offense in the Skippers (18-15) decision over Hull in a South Shore League scrum.


Cory Allison(3 hits, 4 RBI's) and Andy Lalli (3 hits, 4 RBI's) jumpstarted the offense in Coyle-Cassidy's (18-5) drubbing of Martha's Vineyard in a non-league tilt.


Amesbury's John Tassanari (3-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI's) propelled the Indians to a (16-2) shellacking of Pentucket in a Cape Ann League battle.
