EMASS Baseball Players of the Day for April 23rd
Players of the Day for Thursday, April 23, 2009.
Grant McCardless hurled a no-hitter with eight strikeouts as Concord-Carlisle slipped by Bedford (2-0) In Dual County League action.
Bridgewater-Raynham's Mike Connolly (photo above) pitched and hit (CG, 7 K's, 2 hits, RBI) the Trojans in to the finals of the Brad Martin Tournament with (5-3) win over New Bedford.
Jim Perron spun an 11 K, 1-hitter to lead Archbishop Williams to a (8-0) pasting of South Shore Christian.
Medford's Danny Gunn (3-4, Grand Slam, 6 RBI's) powered the Mustangs past South Boston (18-5) in a non-league tilt.
Tom Herron spun a complete game, 13 strikeout gem as Xaverian defeated Newton North (4-1).
North Quincy's Joe Edgerly hurled a complete game, 2-hit shutout to pace the Red Raiders past Quincy (8-0).
Matt Greeke (CG, 1-hitter, 5 K's, 2-3) propelled Hamilton-Wenham to a (4-0) shutout of Cape Ann League foe Rockport.
Plymouth North's Matt Walsh (2-3, HR, 3 RBI's) paced the Eagles to a (5-2) win over Plymouth South in an Atalntic Coast matchup.
Jordan McGonagle (CG, 2-hitter, 5 K's) twirled a Tri-Valley League masterpiece as Hopkinton destroyed Holliston (10-0).
Sandwich's Al Stanton pitched a complete game 2-hitter to go along with 12 strikeouts to lead the Blue Knights to a (3-0) shutout of Whitman-Hanson.
