EMASS Baseball Players of the Day for April 18th
Players of the Day for Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Derek Russell (pictured above) picked up the win as Newton South slipped by Malden (7-6) in a Dual County vs Greater Boston League battle.
Wesport's Steve Araujo (Win, 2 hits, 3 RBI's) provided the offense and pitching as the Wildcats edged Mashpee (11-10).
Chris Modlish (3-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, winning pitcher) dominated at the dish and on the hill as Pentucket crushed North Reading (12-4) in a Cape Ann League tilt.
Bishop Fenwick's Rick Dulkis (3-3, 3 RBI's) powered the Crusaders past Matignon (9-1) in a Catholic Central League game.
Ben Tomsyck pitched a five-hitter to go along with six strikeouts as Wakefield bested Woburn (8-2) in Middlesex League action.
Bishop Feehan's Ryan Lee (3-5, 3 RBI's, 3rd HR of the year) slugged the Shamrocks to a (12-5) drubbing of future EAC foe Martha's Vineyard (12-5).
Ethan Trout pitched a complete game 2-hitter in Beverly's (2-0) shutout of non-league opponent St. Mary's.
BC High's Brendan Collins and Brandon Cipolla both went (2-3, 2 RBI's) to propel the Eagles to a (10-3) pasting of Maryland's DeMatha High School.
Matt Horan hurled a three hit, seven strikeout gem as O'Bryant outdueled Weymouth (2-1) in a non-league tussle.
Winchester's Patrick Lucas (CG, 3 hits) was immense on both sides of the ledger in leading the Sachems to a (4-3) Middlesex League win.
